As part of the preparations for next year, when Chile will host APEC, Direcon held the workshop "World Café: Women with a view to APEC 2019". It was attended by more than 50 businesswomen and opinion leaders who are leading figures at national level.

At Direcon, we have promoted the incorporation of chapters on gender in trade agreements, and we have benefited more than 1,700 women entrepreneurs through ProChile’s Mujer Exporta program," said Vice Minister of Trade Rodrigo Yáñez.
"Furthermore, for the first time ever, the APEC forum, which will take place in Chile next year, will have “Women and Economic Growth” as its priority theme,” he added.
Referring to Chile's year as host of the Forum, APEC Executive Director Alan Bollard explained that the topic of women and the economy has been discussed at some Forum meetings, and that Chile will lead by example in 2019.
