The Concluding Senior Officials’ Meeting (CSOM) marks the start of APEC Leaders’ Week 2018 in Papua New Guinea
Mr Francke is meeting with a number of his counterparts from the twenty-one participating economies, including Ms Lu Mei from China, and Mr Matt Matthews from the United States.
Day 1 – 12 November
During the official meeting, the Senior Officials received reports from APEC’s many committees and working groups, and made preparations for the APEC Ministerial Meeting, which will take place on November 15 and the APEC Leaders’ Summit, November 17-18.
At the end of Leaders’ week, Chile will take over the responsibility for hosting APEC in 2019. The meetings in Papua New Guinea will provide an opportunity to continue talking about the priorities for the next year and inviting the economies to take an active and constructive part in APEC Chile 2019, which will get underway in the next month with the ISOM.
Day 2 – 13 November
Chile highlighted the progress made during the year on areas of importance to Chile and APEC 2019, such as the development of remote areas, women, natural resources, the internet and digital economy, inclusive growth and food security, among others.
