Santiago, February 6, 2019. The SOM Chair for APEC Chile 2019, Mathias Francke, along with Krasna Bobenrieth, who is responsible for contents and the SOM Chair Assistant, and Fernando Barrera, the Director of Logistics made a presentation on February 5 and 6 to around a hundred people who are acting as the focal points in ministries and public institutions, as well as to representatives of APEC economies. Their presentation included the most important points in the preparation of the First Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM1) and related meetings, which will take place in Santiago between February 23 and March 8.
Mathias Francke emphasized that the organization has everything prepared for the 14 days of meetings, with just the last few details to be taken care of. “The APEC Chile 2019 office has been working both on the contents of the meetings and on supporting the focal points, as well as also organizing the agendas and all the logistics that are necessary for these meetings.”
Around 60 meetings will take place during SOM1, including working groups, committees, workshops, seminars and work visits, culminating on the March 7 and 8 with the Senior Officials’ Meeting. Around 1,500 government officials are expected from the 20 economies that, along with Chile, make up APEC.
